Under the direction of a Special Agent Supervisor (SAS) in the Bureau of Gambling Control (BGC), Compliance Enforcement Section Southern California (CES South), the Crime Analyst II (CA II) applies knowledge acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience of the criminal intelligence process to perform difficult and complex analytical and specialized research duties related to criminal information, conduct detailed analysis, present findings and recommendations regarding criminal intelligence to Department of Justice Special Agents and other Law Enforcement Agencies in written reports, publications, and presentations; provide analytical support on Compliance and Enforcement (CES) investigations for the three (3) southern California Regional Offices, including but not limited to: link analysis, commodity flow, timeline charts, Penlink data analysis tool, and mapped area charts. The CA II utilizes various law enforcement databases such as LEAWeb, LexisNexis Accurint, CalPhoto, Vigilant LPR database, FinCEN, and GERLaw to complete inquiries needed to ascertain subject information and develop detailed and updated case information to advance CES investigations; gather, intake, and process intelligence to identify criminal patterns or trends relative to general criminal activities and organized criminal groups involving gambling. The CA II will share this information within the Bureau, to outside law enforcement agencies (at times in person), and gambling establishment security personnel through disseminated intelligence bulletins and BOLO’s.
